The ComunicaTEA blog

Guides and resources on augmentative communication, pictograms and autism.

Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) is the set of supports —pictograms, boards, apps with a voice— that lets someone express themselves when speech alone is not enough. It does not replace spoken language: it accompanies it and, in most cases, drives it forward. Here I publish practical guides for everyday use: how to start with pictograms at home, what a home-school communication diary needs to include, how to choose the first vocabulary, or what to do when a system stops working. They are written for families, special education teachers, speech therapists and therapists who need something they can apply this week, not theory.
